So what if I told you that a woman carrying twins can look down at her belly and know that she is carrying the actual physical cells of half of her future grandchildren? First of all, how is that even possible? And more specifically, if it is possible, why only half?

I’ll give you a clue to the second question. She is carrying a boy and a girl. Does that tell you anymore? If she were carrying two girls, she would be carrying all of her potential grandchildren. And if she were carrying two boys, she’d be carrying none of them. I know, I know, not fair. But stick with me on this.

Every female fetus, including your mom, developed all the eggs she will ever have while a fetus still inside of her own mom. And of course, one of those eggs ultimately developed into you. So in reality, you started your life inside of your grandmother.

Now this is where it gets even more magical. If you yourself are lucky enough to become pregnant with a little girl, you can gaze down on your growing belly and envision carrying your potential future grandchildren inside of you!

But now for the answer to the head scratcher. Not to burst any bubbles, here, but unfortunately, it doesn’t apply if you are pregnant with a son. Alas, boys don’t start producing sperm until puberty.

So how close are you to your mom’s mother? If your grandmother is still living, you might want to blow away both of them by casually mentioning that you literally started your life inside of your grandmother.
